RIPPLE IN TRADITIONS

Ripple in Traditions is a thought-provoking exhibition exploring the deep connections between tradition, storytelling, and generational legacy, featuring 20 BIPOC Women and Two-Spirit artists. Curated by Rae Riggs, Carly Treece, and Brittany Bendabout, this show highlights the ongoing influence of cultural practices and the resilience of BIPOC identity across generations. Through diverse artistic mediums, the exhibition invites viewers to reflect on the lasting impact of tradition and the ways in which it continues to shape contemporary Indigenous experiences.

Opening night included a showing of the short documentary ᏗᏂᏠᎯ ᎤᏪᏯ (Meet Me at the Creek) by Lauren K. Waters. Meet Me at the Creek tells a story of interconnectedness and Cherokee values through the lifelong fight of Rebecca Jim, a Cherokee Nation citizen and Waterkeeper Warrior, as she leads the effort to restore Tar Creek located in Miami, Oklahoma. U.S. government officials have designated Tar Creek as “irreversibly damaged,” but Rebecca refuses to accept that.

The exhibtion also featured a "Make and Take Tea & Blockprint Workshop" where art and wellness connected.  Taught by herbalist Dana Bear of Tallchief & Co and Carly Treece of Tvlse Studios.  Ripple in Traditions was on display at Positive Space Gallery in Tulsa, OK, November 2024 and will be a traveling exhibit to the Mid-America All Indian Museum in Wichita, KS in Spring of 2026.  Contact us if you would like to host this exhibit in your space!

Make and Take Tea and Blockprint Workshop

Make and Take Tea & Blockprint Workshop, where art and wellness connect. Dana Bear, owner of Tallchief & Co, guided participants through a hands-on tea workshop, where they learned about the healing properties of plants that support health. Each participant crafted their own custom tea blend to take home, designed to nurture and nourish the body. In addition, Carly Treece led a block printing make and take session featuring a hand-carved design inspired by one of the plants used in the tea blend. Participants had the opportunity to print this design on a card, donated handmade paper from Pokeberry Paper or a personal item, creating a unique, meaningful print.
